We, Ginny & Martin Brant acquired Blue Hills Touring Park in March 2014. A massive lifestyle change for us and a hard decision to leave behind family most of who were in Hampshire although we seem to have seen a lot more of them down here since we moved! We previously lived on the Hampshire/Surrey border where Martin worked at Heathrow Airport T4 for 19 years as a ramp supervisor & Ginny worked in the retail sector, the last role for many years within Millets, dealing with tents and camping were the norm!

We have been caravanners ourselves since our 2 boys were very young (now 28 & 29 & both married) and enjoyed many a break in our little secondhand ABI. After a couple of other vans and many ‘fishing’ site based family holidays we gradually progressed to a bit more comfort (once the boys got ‘bored’ with caravanning with Mum & Dad at about 16 years old!).
We upgraded to a comfy fixed bed caravan which is often still used on site. We had our first motorhome break recently, a learning curve but enjoyable. Gave us a real insight to some of the practicalities of having a motorhome, very enlightening!

Harley joined our family in 2006 and all holidays started to revolve around suitable dog-friendly sites. Cornwall definitely became our favourite county invoking many memories of when both our own parents took family breaks when we were both younger! It drew us down when we started to look for our own site.

We excitedly viewed Blue Hills in June 2013 whilst holidaying nearby on the North Coast. On the way in we were wowed by the beach at Perranporth. We spent 45 minutes looking around, didn’t even realise how close the South West Coast Path was or the ‘local’ beach at Trevellas Porth! We were bowled over by the site itself. It needed a little TLC and it struck us how quiet it was for June. However, the timing wasn’t quite right to make an offer as we were still renovating a project house in North Hampshire & we learned that just a few days after our visit Blue Hills had sold. After finishing the house renovation in September we accepted an offer in November 2013 and contemplated our next move. We got a call 2 days later to say Blue Hills Touring Park was back on the market, we’ve never packed a bag so quickly! The timing was perfect and following much discussion with family, driving many miles, house hunting (no residence on site) & reading endless amounts of paperwork we moved to the lovely St. Agnes in January 2014 & the park became ours just 4 weeks before Easter 2014.

Although it was a nice little business, much needed to be done to improve the guest facilities and occupation levels and over the last five years we’ve done both. Refitted toilets and showers & disabled area, revamped wash-up area and the utility area re-organised. We tidied the old horse field which became ‘Harleys Field’, a great recreation area for our 4 legged doggy guests leading to us winning a few dog-friendly awards, also used by our younger visitors in the holiday times and backpackers now have a ‘dry’ space to chill in when needed. Much was also done behind the scenes including a major upgrade of electrics with a 3 phase system installed allowing us to operate 16 amp hook-up points on most pitches. Much outside building maintenance was done and now our most exciting news to date is that in November 2019 we were finally given full planning permission to build a small unobtrusive abode on site with the addition of a nice reception & office with new laundry facilities planned too (planned to start around Oct 2020). So at last we can truly call Crosscoombe, St. Agnes & Blue Hills Touring Park our home.

We love seeing our regular guests and are already receiving 2020 bookings from many new campers, motorhomers and caravanners. We are often on site in the background along with our seasonal site assistants to ensure your holiday is as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.
